Happy new year. Thank you for your kindness last year, and wish you the best for 2019. Our first greeting of the year delivers exciting news about the launching of our collaborative project at Maison et Objet 2019 from January 18th to 22nd. We will be much pleased to see you there, so do swing by.
At this year’s Maison et Objet, the world’s largest interior design fair, the lacquerware brand KISHU+ whose design direction was led by TAKT PROJECT is on show for the two consecutive years. Craftmanship and modern technology, as its main imperative, KISHU+ continues to extend the techniques and expression that have been honed to this date. The three lightings that it presents focus on the concept of 'Akari in Japan' and reinterpret enduring charm of existing lacquerware as Japanese lighting.
AKARI IN JAPAN
‘Akari' in Japanese means 'light source' in English, it is not bright and dazzling light like the sun, but light with warm feeling and light with shadow. The presence of the shadow enriches the expressions of light from many different perspectives. The sensitivity of Japanese people deeply feels the beauty not in the light, but in even the shadow. Lacquerware with a deep gloss like filled with full light is playing a role in embodying Japanese sensitivity to light. Lacquerware with the beauty of such shadow is incarnation of into lighting. It is lighting not only gives light to space, but also creates shadows, that is, 'Akari in Japan'.
